2016 Grace Awards Finalist
News, news and oh so much news! Let’s get right down to it.
First stop, Jawdrop Junction. The Ascent of the Nebula is one of the finalists for The 2016 Grace Awards! How this happened, I’m not really sure! But as these are reader nominated awards, all I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the people who nominated and voted for my novel.
At this point I am really just overwhelmed and humbled to be among the finalists. Whatever happens from here on out, it is an honor to just be considered for any sort of award for my work. To God be the glory. That is and always has been my prayer for my writing.
But wait there’s more! This week kicked off the 2017 Indie eCon for independently published authors. And I’m participating!
I’ve never been to a real life writing conference or convention, but this one is pretty neat. I’m not sure how many authors are participating, but it’s several dozen at least. And they’re sharing helpful articles, offering critiques, having challenges, and offering prizes. I only had time to write one article, a piece on theme in art and how it relates to worldview. If you can, check it out and leave a comment. I’d love to hear your feedback.
The eCon will be going on all week, so be sure to check it out!
Remember that part about never having been to a conference? Well I’m nipping that one in the bud two seconds later and going to an actual conference this weekend! Well, more of a literary gathering, really. It’s just an evening and a day, but it’s near where I live and the theme was just too good to pass up. It’s called Lewolkien (hehe) and it’s all about Lewis and Tolkien and great books!
Here’s the schedule:
- Dinner 5:30
- Introduction to Lewolkien 6:30
- State of the modern university student 7:00
- Evening of Dessert
- Breakfast 8:00
- Why the classics? 9:00
- Book Lists exercise
- Lewis and Tolkien 11:30
- Lunch 12:30
- Narnia 1:30
- The Hobbit 2:00
- Break 2:30
- Panel debate over the best lit. ever 4:00
- Dinner 6:00 Evening with speakers
How does that sound? Hours upon hours of the best books ever! Yes, please, with an extra scoop of fantasy and a dog-eared bookmark on top!
And just to make it totally over the top, I’ve decided to start a reread of The Lord of the Rings to coincide with the conference. That is what you call soaking in it, my friends. Far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow, if I can!
On the way out a couple of quick updates on my writing projects. The Chronotrace Sequence rewrites are plodding along, but I’ve also been working on The Last Motley as well.
And I’ve got a cover designer lined up for The Last Motley! He won’t be working on it right away, but I’ll be sending him the book this week so he can read it and start getting ideas. I have no idea at this point what the cover will look like, but I can promise you this. It is going to be goluptious (yes, it’s a word—sort of). This designer is absolutely amazing!
Phew! Any more excitement and the wheels might fall off. Thanks for sharing a few more steps along the road with me.
