Ascent of the Nebula Cover

Ascent of the Nebula Cover Reveal

Well, my friends the time has come to reveal the cover for Ascent of the Nebula, book 3 of The Chronotrace Sequence! As a writer, I’m not just appreciative of verbal forms of artistic expression, but musical and visual forms as well. One of the great things about my publishing situation is that I get to have total control over my covers and I’ve always tried to go with the best possible covers I could and this time around was no exception.

The cover for Into the Vast was primarily yellow while the second book, Through the Viscerawas blue. And yellow and blue make green, right?

And so, without further adieu, here is the cover:

Ascent of the Nebula Cover

I think this will look particularly fetching on your bookshelf. As I said yesterday, this is the most purely science fiction cover in the series. I think it turned out quite nicely. Maybe not the most crazily dynamic picture in the world, but space is inherently photogenic and this cover certainly is no exception.

So there you have it. I’ll leave you with my working draft of the blurb from the back cover to give you an idea of what sorts of things you might find between the pages of this cover

A New Power Rises

The world of the Vast is in its death throes. While earthquakes wrack the planet from within, Adan and a band of escaped test subjects from the Collective struggle to find a safe haven from the collapsing desert wasteland below.

But some of the Collective scientists are still out there. And they still have prisoners locked inside their cryo-vaults. Adan and his companions are racing to track them down with the chronotrace, a device that gives them a window into the past, they discover an even deadlier threat. The Collective is preparing for war. But not with Adan and his rag tag band of renegades. Rumors of an old enemy surface as the depths of the Collective’s atrocities are revealed.

Will this new power come to set Adan and the others free once and for all? Or will this be just another form of tyranny, come to subjugate the Vast and its people?

Find out in Ascent of the Nebula.

I hope you enjoy this one when it comes out. Which should be soon, within the next few weeks hopefully. I’ll let you know when I have a hard and fast date. Until then…

Excelsior!

Eeeeeeeeeep!!!!! (Okay, that might have been a bit too fangirly… but I am SO excited about this book! Especially now that there’s a cover AND a back of the book blurb!!!)

The cover is gorgeous! I am super impressed (and slightly envious) of your ability to write the books AND create your own cover art.

Aww thanks for the kind words. I did use someone else’s artwork for this one, though I colored it in photoshop to look the way I wanted (it’s hard to find pictures of green things in space). I just hope the colors come out the way want in the print copies. Ink and pixels do not always play nicely with each other unfortunately!
