Top 5 Songs to Write to #4

songs for writing

I’m running through my playlist of the top five songs to write to and, as I mentioned before, it’s all songs from soundtracks and all instrumental songs at that.

My number four song comes from a movie that is actually based on a book which I’ve reviewed and which I thoroughly enjoy and that is City of Ember.

I usually listen to the whole soundtrack, but far and away my favorite song from the movie is One Last Message composed by Andrew Lockington. It’s the last song on the album and plays right towards the end of the movie. It’s a triumphant moment in the film and the song has wonderful movement and drama. It evokes feelings of embarking on an amazing journey to far off, unexplored lands. Another real gem of a song.

I listened to this one a lot when writing Through the VisceraSince most of that story takes place underground, City of Ember music just seemed like a natural fit. It helped me feel a bit like I was finding my way through long dark tunnels below ground.

Have a listen if you’d like and see what “message” this song might have for you.

Oooo, wonderful song! I didn’t pay too close attention to the score of City of Ember while watching the movie, but it’s quite nice! It reminds me a bit of the music from the new episodes of Doctor Who.
I liked last week’s selection too!

Yeah, I don’t think it made much of an impression when I watched the movie either. Not sure what made me give it a second look, but I was pleasantly surprised when I did!
