Update on Ascent: First Draft Done!

writing updates sign

It’s finished! The first draft for Ascent of the Nebula, the third and final installment in my science fiction series, The Chronotrace Sequence is finally done!

It’s currently about the same length as Through the Viscera. If the past is any indication, it will probably get a little longer through editing. My goal is always to make it shorter, but my editor usually informs me that I didn’t explain this or that well enough or that I’ve breezed over something that needs to be filled out.

But wow, does it feel good to be at this point. I never know quite how long the editing is going to take, but it feels like I’m a long distance runner entering the final lap of a race. With the holidays coming up things will likely slow down, but I am thrilled that the finish line is in sight.

Thanks for stopping by to share this exciting moment.

    Whoo hoo!!!! Congratulations!

Funny, my books always get shorter upon editing.

All right… you can have the holidays off, but then it’s back to the grindstone, because I’m dying to find out how the series ends! 🙂 haha

Lol. Well, some of us actually need to take time out to listen to Christmas music, I guess, since we can’t write to it.

And as far as the manuscript getting bigger, I think it’s also due to the way I write my drafts. I basically just sprint through to the end and never look back, so they end up needing a lot of cleanup and fleshing out. But I do try to cut what I can.
